David Jones’ shimmering sculpture references water bodies, their power to provide nourishment through food, and comfort from the searing heat of Bunuru.

Concept Rationale
“My sculpture has been designed to evoke something of the quick and streamlined interaction of fish, water and waves found in these water bodies.
The work speaks of the water and the sensation of wading into its gleaming mass, feeling its pressure slide and glide around you as you walk waist deep in refuge from the searing heat of Bunuru.
The sculpture is shaped to give the feeling of the water rolling around your body while standing submerged, chest high – a sensation familiar to my ancestors when spearing and netting fish around the waterways.
The idea is that the sculpture will be set deep in planting and will float within the garden setting, its metallic form twisting and turning like the water it suggests.” – David Jones
