The completed Seventh Road Artwork stands as a vibrant visual narrative inspired by the natural environment and architectural forms of the Armadale area. Drawing from the vertical lines of Sheoak, Wandoo, Jarrah, and Marri trees, as well as the structural elements of Armadale Station’s metal banding and concrete panels, the mural features linear strips that evoke the verticality and rhythm of the landscape. This approach creates a cohesive aesthetic that bridges the site’s built and natural features.
A core strength of the artwork lies in its celebration of community, particularly through the integration of student designs developed during local workshops and a community painting session. These contributions bring a rich diversity of expression to the mural, injecting youthful energy while fostering a strong sense of ownership and pride among students and the wider community.
Anchored by the overarching theme of the Darling Scarp and coloured in hues reflective of Armadale’s unique palette, the mural creates a visual connection between the urban precinct and its surrounding bushland. It symbolises Armadale’s role as a gateway between city and country, past and future – an enduring tribute to place, connection, and collective identity.
