Whadjuk Tainui Indigenous Artist, Julianne Wade was commissioned to create a 30m mural to be used as hoarding during the renewal construction works. The artwork traces the life cycle of a kwela (sheoak), which would have once inhabited the site, through the Noongar six seasons. Julianne Wade painted the artwork in collaboration with her family and community, thoroughly enjoying the engagement during her time in residence.
Together the artworks celebrate Noongar people and culture, and strengthens the connection between river, Country, and people – to make a place for all people to share and belong.
