Rick Vermey is a visual artist, based in Fremantle WA, with a breadth of experience in creating artworks for public sites. In the past 22 years, he has created 21 large-scale commissioned public artwork projects. Through hands-on experience, he has acquired a breadth of skills and expertise covering the conceptual, technical and aesthetic aspects of artistic design, along with a depth of knowledge about the production of artworks for the public realm.
Vermey has demonstrated abilities in concept development, artwork construction and project management, along with sensitivity to the specifics of location and contextual factors. He is accustomed to selecting appropriate media/materials to best address the specific requirements of a site and a conceptual idea. He is also alert to the material durability and maintenance considerations inherent in locating artworks in the public domain.
