Armadale Station: A Celebration of Noongar Country and Culture
The Armadale Station Activation Artwork by Dellas Bennell offers a quiet yet powerful journey through Noongar Country. Embedded throughout the station precinct as part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension, the work traces interconnected story points across the forecourt, pathways and seating areas, honouring place, memory and enduring relationships between land, native flora and fauna, and the Noongar people who have cared for this Country for thousands of years.
Byford Station: Honouring Country and Connection
Created for the new Byford Station as part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension, the Byford Station Activation Artwork by Nigel Chadd honours Bibbulmun Whadjuk Country. Guided by local Elders and developed in close collaboration with the Apparatus design team, the work is woven throughout the station precinct, reflecting the deep connections between land, people, culture and movement, and inviting moments of reflection, care and connection to Country.
Larsen Road: Community in Colour
Held in Place is a large-scale public artwork by Western Australian artist Sioux Tempestt, created in collaboration with students from Marri Grove Primary School as part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension.
Installed across both sides of the new Larsen Road pedestrian bridge, the artwork celebrates Byford’s community identity, rural heritage, and connection to the surrounding landscape.
Peregrination: A Journey – A collaborative Artwork for the Armadale Station Precinct Viaduct
Peregrination: A Journey transforms the Armadale Station viaduct into a vibrant 1.5-kilometre artwork celebrating Noongar culture, local ecology, and movement across Country. Through murals and integrated lighting, the Peregrination Collective creates a dynamic gateway that reflects Armadale’s landscape, stories, and identity.
Signal Grove Returns: Tony Jones’ Iconic Sculptures Reinstated at the New Armadale Station
Signal Grove, Tony Jones’ much-loved series of vibrant steel sculptures, has returned to public view at the new Armadale Station. Carefully restored and reinstated as part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension, the artworks now stand proudly beside the station entry, reconnecting the community with a landmark that has shaped Armadale’s identity for nearly two decades.
